Adrian Watson Album
10-08-1972 to 05-04-2014
These images remain as a memorial to Adrian Watson, a keen photographer and committee member, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Adrian first got interested in photography at a fairly young age, when he was bought a Miranda 35mm compact camera. He used this for a number of years, until he left school and started work, but was probably in his early twenties, when he progressed to a 35mm SLR.
It was then that Adrian borrowed a friend's Minolta Dynax 7, which at the time was quite an advanced camera. He liked it so much that when he gave him it back he bought the Dynax 5 (which was all he could afford at the time).
Adrian kept the Minolta for a few years, until he took the plunge and went digital, since when he never looked back. At the time this gallery was formed Adrian was 37 and photography had become an all-consuming hobby, for which he used Nikon equipment (then a D300), with a reasonable selection of lenses.
In 2008 Adrian joined Newark and District Photographic Society; he started entering the competitions in 2009. As he was new to competitions he wasn’t sure what to expect, but to his amazement he won the Photographer of the Year (Beginners’ Section). Adrian was also awarded Best Beginner’s Print, for an image of a local landmark.
Following his initial successes Adrian was really looking forward to the challenge of future competitions, and maybe entering an external competition or two.
