Rose King Album
I started coming to what was then Newark Photographic Society with husband Paul in 1977. The committee, as always, were looking for new blood and the post of Secretary fell to me, since then I have been Programme Secretary (three times) and President (twice).
Started with a Mamiya 500SX SLR, monochrome film and colour transparency. Changed to Canon with an AE1 Program around 1984, last film camera was a Canon T90. Progressed to digital with a Canon10D - still using. Did monochrome prints in the early days, gave up darkroom work and continued with slides until 2002. Since then have made digital colour and monochrome prints and images for digital projection.
First competition success was the trophy for best slide in the 1981 Annual Exhibition. Over the years, I have been awarded almost every trophy and have come top several times in our Photographer of the Year competition, held over eight heats, in the sections for colour prints, monochrome prints and pictorial slides. I have dabbled with Natural History and had a few successful shots.
I like wide-angle lens shots, patterns and details, flowers, cityscapes and candid portraits - nervous - usually from the back! Taking the snaps is the best part but I do enjoy a bit of digital manipulation in Photoshop.
